About Caktus Consulting Group

Caktus Consulting Group, LLC was founded by a team of graduates from Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana. We are now based out of the Chapel Hill, North Carolina area. We're in the business because we love what we do, we love working together, and we can't wait to start working on your project.

The Caktus Team

Colin Copeland

Colin majored in Computer Science at Earlham College. He's interested in energy awareness (see Economical Real-Time Monitoring of Power Consumption and Earlham Energy Awareness Project), green architecture, and data management and visualization (scrAPI, Infobomb). He also worked on a Solar Hot Water Heater and some embedded linux programming to monitor various sensors (wind speed and direction, power consumption, etc). Colin is learning to play the banjo and enjoys baking bread.

Alex Lemann

Hailing from New Orleans, Louisiana, Alex holds a B.A. in Computer Science from Earlham College. When he's not coding, Alex loves sailing and fine southern food. Often it is not the mere ability to name a solution that makes a software engineer, but rather, his or her ability to ask the right questions in the first place. When the rest of us are stymied on something, Alex is always there with the right question to keep us moving. He has a broad range of interests in computer science, from cluster computing and theory to environmental monitoring and hardware interfacing. After graduating, Alex spent a year doing post-bac research in computational science for a professor at Earlham.

Kevin Hunter

As a recent graduate (’06) of Earlham College, Kevin majored in Computer Science and minored in Physics. His interests are wide, and include multi-computing, energy-efficient living, visualization, education, database technology, and the OpenSource philosophy. His most recent (computer-related) projects are WebDB, ScrAPI, and SC'07 Education. In his spare time, Kevin kicks the soccer ball around, volunteers with the SC Education program, and co-leads a computer-club at C. E. Jordan High School.

Tobias McNulty

Aspiring renaissance man, Tobias graduated from Earlham College in 2006 with a degree in philosophy. Largely self-taught in the field of computers, Tobias owned and operated a small software and web hosting company for a number of years, and later supported his college career writing software for Data Description in his home town of Ithaca, NY. In his second two years at Earlham, Tobias joined the Cluster Computing Group and took a couple upper-level Computer Science classes, through which he met the great guys above.

Tobias's skills include database-enabled web site development, software engineering, and Linux system administration. When he's not writing software, Tobias loves cooking, baking, bike rides, and contradancing.
