scrAPI

While there's a lot of raw data out there on the Internet, some of it can be hard to visualize. We wanted to change that. scrAPI is a web application for retrieving ("scraping") data from web sites across the net and displaying it in an easily accessible form. The web interface takes the data and displays it on an easy to use and interactive Google Map. This project was developed as part of a software engineering class in the spring of 2006 (and happens to be what originally united us as a team).

WebDB

Kevin has spent 3 years coding and one year leading a group of student programmers developing WebDB. WebDB is Earlham College's course registration tool and community portal. It is an interface to Earlham's backend database where students can view courses offered and build their schedule. WebDB is also a repository for community documents, meeting minutes and the like which keep students informed about the direction the college is headed.

Earlham Energy Awareness Project

The Earlham Energy Awareness Project is an interface for the college's administration to enter data about college owned houses' bills and students to become aware about the resources they are consuming. Students are encouraged to compete with their house's average resource consumption and are rewarded for saving resources.

This project also involved developing embedded hardware to do real time monitoring of the electrical consumption of college buildings and relay that information to students, faculty, and administrators.

This project was developed over a summer as a callaboration between Colin, Alex, and the college's administration.

PowerPC Kernel Archives

ppckernel.org is a place for Linux kernel gurus to gather as well as for users to download the latest and greatest Linux PowerPC kernel offerings. It explains the various flavors of Linux PowerPC kernels and supports the mailing list for developers to interact with one another as well as support users. Tobias has volunteered his time to developing the website and is in the process of developing a web-based front end to the automated testing that helps ensure no bugs make it into the stable releases of the Linux kernel.
